BREAKING: Trespasser Caned and Sent to Islamic School in Kano Court Ruling

A Kano State Shari’a Court sitting at Kofar Kudu has placed a man, Khalifa Auwal, on a six-month community service bond after finding him guilty of criminal trespass and theft.

During this period, he is required to undergo Islamic studies at an Islamiyya school.

The state counsel charged the defendant with the two offences, informing the court that Auwal was apprehended while cutting iron rods at the ongoing Tal’adu Bridge construction site in Gwale Local Government Area.

The defendant pleaded guilty to the charges during the proceedings.

In his ruling, the presiding judge, Shamsuddeen Ado Abdullahi Unguwar Gini, ordered that the convict be given 50 strokes of the cane in addition to the six-month community service bond.

The judge further directed that Auwal study Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) under the supervision of Audu Dan Hajiya, a court official, as part of his rehabilitation process.
