BREAKING: Where I Stay In Lagos, Ajah, In The Last 6months, We’ve Had Constant Power Supply — Onanuga Reveals

The Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Bayo Onanuga, has highlighted recent improvements in electricity supply in parts of Lagos, while attributing persistent local outages to infrastructure issues.

Speaking during an interview on Lagos Talks FM aired on Friday, March 6, 2026, Onanuga discussed his personal experience with electricity supply in his area, noting the impact of recent measures by power distributors. “Well all what I know is this. I also live I have my family is in Lagos. And where I stay in Lagos, Ajah. I can tell you for in the last I say in the last 6 months or so we’ve had constant power supply,” he said.

Onanuga explained that improvements in supply were due to proactive efforts by the local power distributor and the availability of backup solutions at home.

“And I think that was because of there was something that power distributor did to enhance the power supply in that area. I have solar at home. I hardly use the solar because, I now find that I don’t need to turn my solar when I have power. In fact, of course, even the power the power we have also charges our solar,” he said.

He emphasized that the consistent electricity had reduced the need for reliance on personal backup systems, noting the ease with which his household has been able to manage consumption. “So, we’ve enjoyed in fact I sometimes I tell my wife that this fire from the from the mains is getting too much because the fire is still in your meter showing that you are using a lot of power,” he said.

Onanuga acknowledged that some areas in Lagos still experience intermittent outages, explaining that these were likely due to localized issues rather than systemic failures.

“But you’ve had in that part of Lagos, you’ve had constant power supply. Some of those issues you talking about there may be local problems. Maybe there’s a transformer problem that we make supply impossible, and I believe is causing it in all those areas you are describing local problems which can be solved by the discourse in in operating in that in that area,” he said.
