Coalition Of Biafran Supporters Call For ‘One Million March’ To Demand Release Of Nnamdi Kanu

A coalition of pro-Biafra supporters has called for a massive protest march in Aba, Abia State, demanding the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

The organisers, under the banner of the Coalition of Lovers of Freedom, announced plans for what they described as a “One Million March” scheduled to take place in Aba on March 12, 2026.

In a flyer circulating on social media and seen by SaharaReporters, the organisers urged supporters across the region to converge on Aba to peacefully demand Kanu’s freedom.

The flyer reads: “1 Million March for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s Freedom – Aba – 12th March 2026.”

It further called on supporters to mobilise in large numbers.

“This is the mother of all marches. Wherever you are, head to Aba on 12th March 2026 and march peacefully for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Come one, come all,” the message stated.

The organisers also described themselves as the Coalition of Lovers of Freedom and urged participants to rally around what they called the demand to “Free Our Leader.”

Kanu, who leads the Indigenous People of Biafra, has been in the custody of the Nigerian government since he was rearrested in 2021 and returned to the country under controversial circumstances.

His continued detention has remained a major source of agitation among his supporters, particularly in the South-East region, where calls for his release have triggered protests and sit-at-home orders in the past.

Security authorities have repeatedly warned against unlawful gatherings linked to pro-Biafra agitations, citing security concerns.

It remains unclear whether security agencies would allow the planned march in Aba or take measures to prevent it.  See More
