The French leader shared his statement through a voice message on Instagram after a young social media user voiced worries about the impacts of the current military conflict involving Israel, the United States, and Iran.
In reply to these concerns, Macron aimed to comfort the public by clarifying that France is not taking part in military actions related to the growing conflict.
“I understand your worries completely, and I acknowledge them,” Macron stated in the message. “However, I wish to make it clear: France is not involved in this war. We are not part of the fight and we are not going to participate in this war.”
The French president highlighted that the nation’s present efforts in the area are restricted to defensive and protective measures aimed at ensuring the safety of its citizens, allies, and strategic interests.
According to Macron, France’s main goal is to guarantee the safety of French citizens and promote regional stability instead of contributing to military conflict.
“France is not engaged in warfare in this area,” he remarked. “It is safeguarding French women and men, its allies, and it stands with Lebanon.”
Macron’s statements come in light of increased tensions following coordinated attacks by Israel and the United States on Iranian locations, as well as Iran’s responses. These events have sparked worries about a wider regional war and drawn global attention.
In light of the worsening security conditions, France has strengthened its military presence in the area. These additions involve more naval and air capabilities, including the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, which has been dispatched to aid security efforts.
Macron clarified that these forces are not meant for combat but are instead there to support allies in intercepting drones and missiles that might endanger civilian lives and essential infrastructure. They will also help secure vital shipping lanes for international commerce.
“We are deploying in a completely non-aggressive manner to help secure maritime traffic,” the French leader stated.
