Hundreds of party supporters stormed the Oredo Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, APC, along Wire road in Benin City, to pledge their support to the federal lawmaker representing Oredo Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Esosa Iyawe, as he formally seeks a re-election.
The lawmaker was warmly received by APC leaders, local government executives, ward chairmen, and supporters who expressed confidence in his ability to deliver at the grassroots.
Hon Esosa Iyawe, who presented his report card since assuming office, hinted that he has sponsored several motions and bills at the National Assembly, as well as empowerment programmes for women and youths across his constituency.

While reflecting on his legislative record, Iyawe highlighted several bills and motions, including an effort to improve and revitalize the Gelegele seaport, a motion addressing the mismanagement of funds in the Nigeria health insurance agency, as well as the national skills and empowerment bill and digital health service bill.
As a first time member of the house of representatives, he outlined other achievements which included the distribution of food palliative through his food bank programme to 4000 constituents, donation of mini buses and motorcycles, free medical outreach, free eye surgeries and eye treatment as well as free eye glasses for over 1000 constituents, free JAMB enrollment for Oredo secondary students as well as scholarship programme, and cultural orientation programme.
Iyawe, however, promised to do more if given the party’s ticket, assuring that continuity would enable him to better the lots of everyone in the constituency and complement the efforts of Governor Monday Okpebholo in delivering dividends of democracy to the grassroots.
Responding, the Oredo APC Chairman, Dr Osamudiamen Osarenkhoe, commended Iyawe’s performance, saying that Honourable Iyawe is committed to the well-being of the people.
On his part, Hon. Mark Obete, the federal lawmaker representing Nsukka – Ibeze federal constituency, who was present at the event, described the empowerment as unprecedented, expressing confidence that Oredo federal constituency will continue to support Hon Iyawe’s leadership.
In addition to his empowerment schemes, Hon. Iyawe also donated an additional 20 mini buses to party leaders and members to strengthen the revenue base of party leaders and supporters who commended Hon Esosa Iyawe for his sustained empowerment schemes, expressing confidence in his capacity to emerge as a candidate for a second term.
