Mrs. Mary David, mother of the late Nigerian student Isaac Satlat, has recounted how her son first travelled to South Africa.
In an interview with PUNCH on Sunday, March 8, 2026, Mary explained that Isaac was only 11 years old when she took him, along with his two sisters, Emanuella and Christabel, to join their father who was already living there.
Mrs. David revealed that the family made the move in 2013 so Isaac could stay with his father and continue his education abroad.
She emphasized that the relocation was a family decision, highlighting Isaac’s early journey and the hope his parents had for his future before the tragic incident that later claimed his life.
Her words, “I was the one who took him to South Africa in 2013. I took Isaac to South Africa when he was 11 years old. Four of us travelled together — Isaac and his two sisters, Emanuella and Christabel.”
