The leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to address the lingering disputes with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and health workers in the country, cautioning the President against taking what he described as “wrong advice.”
In a statement released through his media office, Primate Ayodele emphasized the urgent need for decisive and practical action to resolve the ongoing challenges affecting public universities and the health sector; The cleric asserted that failure to adequately address the concerns of striking workers in both sectors could have wider social and economic consequences for Nigeria.
“The government must do what is right and necessary to bring lasting solutions to the issues confronting our universities and health institutions; Wrong advice will only deepen unrest and delay progress,” the statement said.
The cleric urged the Presidency and government officials to engage constructively with union leaders and stakeholders in both sectors to reach sustainable agreements that prioritize the welfare of students, lecturers, health practitioners, and the Nigerian public.
He also called on political leaders to be transparent, empathetic, and proactive in their negotiations, warning that ignoring the concerns of critical national workers could undermine public confidence in the government’s leadership and its commitment to development.
Primate Ayodele, who regularly comments on national affairs, reiterated that Nigeria’s progress depends on functional education and healthcare systems, saying the government should act “with wisdom and courage” to ensure peace and stability.
