JUST IN: Ex-IGP Said That It Was God Who Told PBAT To Fire Him, God Didn’t, We Forced PBAT To Fire Him–Sowore

Omoyele Sowore has asserted that the dismissal of former Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun was due to societal pressure, not a divine command. He declared that the notion that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was instructed by God to terminate Egbetokun is incorrect, maintaining that it was the influence of activists and the public that led to this action.

In a video posted by TV Platinum, Sowore expressed this view during a press conference after a court appearance related to his case, where he stated that the prosecution had concluded its argument. Their sole witness, from the Department of State Services (DSS), reportedly had trouble responding to inquiries and appeared bewildered, which contributed to the decision to cease the prosecution’s case.

He mentioned that another possible witness, Reno Omokri, was initially planned to be called, but the prosecution chose against this after witnessing the problems their first witness encountered. The court has now postponed the proceedings until April 13, allowing Sowore and his defense team to prepare.

Sowore highlighted that the emphasis on Egbetokun’s dismissal showcases the importance of citizens in holding their leaders responsible. He stated that his movement will persist in contesting decisions they view as unjust, which includes advocating for political reform in the upcoming elections.

In his own words, “He said it was God who instructed Tinubu to remove him; God did not tell Tinubu to do that; we compelled Tinubu to make that decision.”
