Former minister Femi Fani-Kayode has reacted strongly to comments made by media personality Dele Momodu during a recent television interview.
Momodu appeared on a programme hosted by Seun Okinbaloye on Channels Television where he criticized the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and compared the current government to the era of former military ruler Sani Abacha.
Reacting to the interview via a Facebook post, Fani-Kayode said he still respects Momodu and considers him a friend, but expressed disappointment over his remarks. He said the journalist appeared exhausted and troubled while discussing national issues and suggested that his comments did not reflect balanced political judgment.
Fani-Kayode also argued that comparing President Tinubu’s leadership to Abacha’s rule was unfair and misleading. According to him, the present administration is working to address Nigeria’s challenges and should be judged based on its policies and actions.
He further advised members of the African Democratic Congress to focus on strengthening their party and presenting clear ideas to Nigerians instead of constantly criticizing the government.
Fani-Kayode added that many political leaders and citizens continue to support the ruling party because they believe the administration is making progress. He concluded by urging Momodu to reconsider his political path and contribute more positively to national discussions.
In his words, “I love Dele and God knows I have immense respect for him but he sounded drained, tired and broken and spoke little sense yesterday in his interview.”
