Buba Galadima, a member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, has reacted to reports that the Kano State House of Assembly is planning to impeach the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, over allegations of gross misconduct
In an interview with News Central TV, Galadima said that even before the assembly began the impeachment process, the deputy governor had already informed the leadership of the NNPP about pressure being placed on him to join APC. He stated that the deputy governor told the leadership of NNPP that some members of the Kano State House of Assembly had privately approached him.
Galadima said the deputy governor explained that the lawmakers told him they were unhappy that he remained in the NNPP while Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf moved to the APC and they also told him to consider defecting to the APC so that certain “calamities” would not happen to him.
In Galadima’s words: “Just two days ago around 2 a.m, the deputy governor phoned the leader of the party and told him that some members of the state house of Assembly met him as friends, and told him that they are not happy that the governor had moved to the APC and he, the deputy governor, refused to follow him and they are asking him to please consider moving to the APC so that certain calamities do not befall him. ‘Calamities’ in this case means impeachment”
