Popular Nollywood actress Lolade Awosanya has opened up about her journey in the Nigerian film industry while also sharing a light-hearted personal opinion about one of her colleagues, revealing that she would have chosen to marry Femi Adebayo if she had not already been married.
Awosanya made the remark during an interview with FeelrightNews TV, where she spoke about her career, her experiences in Nollywood and the personal values she admires in fellow actors.
During the conversation, the actress reflected on how her passion for acting began and the challenges she faced while trying to establish herself in one of Africa’s largest film industries. According to her, the journey into acting was not always easy, but persistence and dedication helped her carve out a place for herself in the competitive entertainment sector.
Awosanya explained that her love for storytelling and performance started long before she became widely known in Nollywood. She said that acting had always been something she enjoyed, but turning that passion into a professional career required patience, learning and support from people within the industry.
Over the years, she has appeared in several Yoruba-language movies and built a reputation for her expressive performances and strong screen presence. The actress said that every role she takes on is an opportunity to grow and connect with audiences who appreciate local stories and culture.
The interview also included a lighter moment when Awosanya was asked a hypothetical question about marriage. The interviewer asked which actor she would consider marrying if she were not already married, giving her three options: Ibrahim Chatta, Odunlade Adekola and Femi Adebayo.
Responding to the question, the actress said she would choose Adebayo.
“I prefer Femi Adebayo,” Awosanya said during the interview.
When asked to explain her choice, she spoke warmly about the qualities she admires in the award-winning actor and filmmaker. According to her, one of the traits that stands out about Adebayo is his willingness to listen to others.
“Femi Adebayo is a listener. He is someone that always wants to give listening ears to people around,” she said.
Awosanya added that mutual understanding would likely be strong between them, noting that the actor’s personality makes it easy for people to relate to him.
“Another thing I feel is that we will understand each other very well,” she explained.
She also praised Adebayo’s humility, describing it as one of the characteristics that make him widely respected within the entertainment community.
“Femi Adebayo is very humble. He doesn’t act according to how big he is,” Awosanya said.
The actress further noted that maintaining humility can be difficult for people who enjoy widespread popularity and recognition, especially in a high-profile industry such as Nollywood.
“It takes somebody a lot to be humble, especially somebody that everyone likes and everybody wants to talk to Femi Adebayo is just humble, and that’s him,” she added.
