In a recent video on Facebook, Primate Elijah Ayodele, the leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has cautioned individuals and groups against campaigning against Ibrahim Musa Gusau, the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), urging stakeholders to allow him complete his tenure.
Ayodele gave the warning while speaking on the future of Nigerian football, insisting that Gusau still has time to improve the nation’s football administration and should not be distracted by unnecessary opposition.
According to the cleric, Gusau’s leadership will bring notable achievements to Nigerian football if he is allowed to complete his mandate without political interference or campaigns aimed at removing him from office.
“Nobody should not come out to campaign against Gusau. We still have another four years,” Ayodele said.
The prophet further predicted that under Gusau’s leadership, Nigeria could host an international football tournament, including youth or women’s competitions organised by global football authorities.
“He will make Nigerian football better than ever, and through him Nigeria is going to have a World Cup. They will give Nigeria maybe Under-16 or a women’s World Cup,” he stated.
Ayodele added that the NFF president would help promote Nigeria’s image globally through football development and international partnerships if he receives the necessary support.
“He will promote Nigeria’s name properly in the world,” the cleric said.
The prophet also warned individuals allegedly plotting to undermine Gusau’s leadership to desist, stating that such actions could negatively affect their public image and reputation.
“Any other person, if you like go and use the presidency, don’t support what will stain your image,” he added.
