The governor of Ondo state, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has reacted after court prevented him from contesting in the next governorship election in Ondo state.
The reaction of the Ondo state governor was contained in a video that was posted on the official X handle of CHANNELS TV on Thursday, March 12, 2026.
This is coming after it was reported that the Federal High Court sitting in Akure, Ondo state has ruled that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa cannot contest the 2028 governorship election. The court ruled that doing so would violate the constitutional limit of eight years in office.
However, in the video that surfaced online, the Ondo state governor said he has never declared that he’s going to contest an election.
Here is what Channels TV wrote;
“I have never at any time declared to the public that I was going to contest an election. I did not approach the court to seek eligibility to contest an election”.
