JUST IN: Tinubu Changes Uzoka-Anite Ministerial Portfolio For Third Time In Three Years

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has again reassigned Doris Uzoka-Anite, marking the third change to her ministerial portfolio in three years.

The series of redeployments has seen Uzoka-Anite move across three different ministries since she joined the Federal Executive Council in August 2023.

Uzoka-Anite was initially appointed as the substantive Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment in August 2023.

However, after one year and two months in the role, the president reassigned her position, with Jumoke Oduwole taking over the ministry.

The move effectively downgraded Uzoka-Anite from a senior ministerial role to a junior position within the cabinet.

Following the change, Uzoka-Anite was redeployed in October 2024 to the Federal Ministry of Finance, where she served as Minister of State for Finance.

In that role, she worked under Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.

Edun had expressed optimism at the time that her appointment would support ongoing economic reforms and initiatives being implemented by the administration.

Less than two years after leaving her first ministerial portfolio, Uzoka-Anite has now been reassigned again – this time to the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning.

She will serve as Minister of State under Atiku Bagudu.

The latest redeployment continues a pattern of frequent cabinet adjustments affecting her portfolio since the start of the Tinubu administration.
Background in Banking and Public Service

Before joining the federal cabinet, Uzoka-Anite served as Commissioner for Finance and Coordinating Economy in Imo State for about two and a half years.

A graduate of the University of Benin, she spent nearly two decades in the private sector before moving into government.

Her career began in the health sector when she worked as a medical officer at Providence Hospital between June and October 2002.

She later joined Zenith Bank as an assistant banking officer, rising through the ranks to become Group Head of Treasury – a position she held until March 2021 before transitioning fully into public service.
