The manager of popular Nigerian singer Simi has shut down rumours claiming she and her husband, Adekunle Gold, are heading for a divorce.
The speculation started after a document surfaced online, allegedly showing a divorce petition filed by Adekunle Gold at the High Court of Lagos State. The document, dated February 28, 2026, claimed the marriage had broken down and cited issues like emotional, financial, and professional control. It also suggested that the court had been asked to dissolve the union and determine joint custody of their child.
However, Simi’s manager, Vincent, has described the document as completely fake.
He pointed out several errors that, according to him, prove it did not originate from any legitimate legal process. One major red flag, he said, was the use of stage names in the filing — something courts do not typically accept in official documents. He also noted that the suit number on the paper carried a 2024 reference, which contradicts the supposed 2026 filing date.
“It’s fake and fabricated. First, stage names are not tenable in any court of justice worldwide as indicated in the document. Even the suit number on the document is backdated to 2024 (SUIT NO HCL/FC/2024/0178),” he stated.
Simi and Adekunle Gold have been together for several years. What began as a friendship and musical partnership later blossomed into a romantic relationship. The couple tied the knot in a private ceremony in January 2019.
In 2020, they welcomed their daughter, Adejare, fondly called Deja.
