The circumstances surrounding the resignation of the state Commissioner for Works, who is the son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, have been clarified by Governor Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State.
Rumors that the resignation may have been connected to political disputes were addressed by Fintiri during an interview on Channels Television on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
“The news filtered in that your commissioner for works, Atiku Abubakar’s son, has resigned,” the interviewer said. The governor refuted reports of internal conflict by stating, “Does that imply that, well, not everyone agrees with that move after all? ”
“We forgave him,” he said. I don’t believe that he actually desired to quit. It is customary for him to squeeze alongside his father, therefore we released him from the government.
The decision, according to Fintiri, was based on considerations that went beyond politics: I previously informed you that politics is only one aspect of this issue. Additionally, morality enters the picture.
The timing of the event necessitated, in the governor’s words, a “principled and appropriate approach”: “And at this point, we thought he should be excused to join his father so that they can go along. ”
Additionally, he reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to national cohesion and more comprehensive political considerations: “And for those of us who have so much faith in this nation, it has been wonderful to grow up and see others maintain it one for us that we are also benefiting and enjoying. ” Therefore, we will pay attention to the southern candidacy.
