Kaduna: When We Followed The Bandits To The Bush We See Some Of The Ladies Dresses —Lawali Yakubu

According to report by Trust TV, on Tuesday March 3, 2026, a Brave members of a local security group in the Kyauta community of Millennium City in the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, successfully rescued a captive and detained a suspected kidnapper following a harrowing late-night invasion on Sunday.

The operation was led by Lawali Yakubu, chairman of the JTF Kyauta community, who spearheaded a high-stakes pursuit into the dense bushland surrounding the settlement to track the fleeing gunmen and their victims.

The nightmare began in the early hours of Monday morning in the Chikun Local Government Area. Sahalu Bala, a local head of household, detailed the terrifying sequence of events during an interview with Trust TV.

According to Bala, the attackers arrived under the cover of darkness at approximately 2:30 a.m., strategically positioning themselves to prevent any immediate resistance. He recounted how the gunmen spent nearly half an hour meticulously breaching the security of his home.

“The attackers arrived at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Sunday night they began by breaching the perimeter of the house, breaking through the wall to secure entry into the compound,” Bala explained, noting that the breach took about 30 minutes before the militants gained full access to the interior.

As the kidnappers retreated into the forest with their captives, the local JTF (Joint Task Force) mobilized immediately. Navigating the treacherous, dark terrain, the vigilantes combed the environment for any traces left behind by the attackers.

During the heat of the chase, the team discovered discarded items that confirmed they were on the right path.

Yakubu reported finding a hijab and a shirt, which were later identified as belonging to the abducted women. These findings, scattered during the chaotic trek through the forest, reportedly strengthened the resolve of the search party.

In a statement regarding the breakthrough, Lawali Yakubu said:

“When we followed them to the bush, we had to rescue one lady inside. So when we go inside the bush, we see some of the ladies’ dresses, one of the hijabs and one of the shirts.”
