According to a report by The Independent, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei was “wounded and likely disfigured” amid the intensifying military campaign being carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran.
Hegseth made the remarks during a briefing at the Pentagon, where he appeared alongside the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to provide updates on the ongoing military operations targeting Iranian facilities.
During the briefing, the defense secretary claimed that Iran’s leadership was under severe pressure and had retreated from public visibility as the strikes continued.
