Nollywood actress Damipe Adekoya has recounted the dramatic and terrifying moment her strict Christian in-laws found out she was pregnant with their son’s child out of wedlock, a secret her husband had failed to properly communicate to them.
She explained that because both families were deeply involved in church leadership—her parents being pastors and his parents being deacons—the pregnancy was a massive scandal. Believing her husband had already broken the news to his parents, she visited their home to help with chores, only to witness a sudden, explosive reaction.
The actress revealed that her husband actually broke the news to his parents while she was sitting right there in their living room, leading to a furious confrontation that left her completely terrified.
Damipe Adekoya said: “My husband too did not tell his parents because his parents were deacons. I told him he should tell his parents so they could come and beg my parents. He told me he had told them. So this particular day, his mom said we should come. I was sweeping and cleaning. Normally I expected mommy to say something, but she didn’t. Then his daddy just drove out in anger. Little did I know that they did not know anything. It was when I was right there that he told them. They were furious.
