Orbán Calls Fidesz “Loud Majority,” Seeks 3M Votes As Allies Back Party As “Safe Choice”

According to a report by Anadolu Agency on Saturday, April 11, 2026, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has declared that his ruling Fidesz party represents the “loud majority” as the country heads into parliamentary elections on Sunday.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Székesfehérvár, Orbán said the party’s goal was to secure around “3 million votes” in order to ensure victory, according to reports from local media outlet Magyar Nemzet. He also appealed for strong voter support for Fidesz candidates Tamás Vargha and Gábor Törő.

Orbán highlighted what he described as national progress since 2010 and urged unity among supporters ahead of the vote. He reiterated his position that Hungary should remain outside the war in Ukraine, referencing commitments previously made during the 2022 election cycle.

The Hungarian leader also criticized European Union-related proposals on funding and energy policy, warning that they could place additional financial pressure on households and threaten access to low-cost energy. He defended his government’s tax policies on multinational corporations, arguing that they have helped finance family support programs across the country.

At the same event, Székesfehérvár Mayor András Cser-Palkovics described Fidesz as “the safe choice” for voters, while regional candidate Gábor Törő said the party remained the only political force capable of ensuring stability and continuity.

The election comes at a politically sensitive moment for Hungary, with opinion polling indicating a tight race. A recent aggregation published by Politico shows Fidesz trailing the opposition Tisza Party by approximately 11 percentage points ahead of Sunday’s vote.
