Pastor Kumuyi Addresses Mirabel Rape Allegations, Warns Against False Claims

The General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, William Folorunso Kumuyi, has reacted to the controversial rape allegation involving an 18-year-old TikTok creator, Mirabel, warning about the dangers of false accusations and misinformation in the age of social media.

Speaking during a recent sermon streamed on YouTube, Kumuyi referenced the case while discussing the biblical warning about “false accusers” in the last days. He said the incident reflects how easily unverified claims can spread widely and influence public opinion.

Citing Second Epistle to Timothy 3, the cleric noted that the scripture predicted a time when people would make damaging accusations against others. “It says false accusers,” Kumuyi told the congregation. “They are telling lies against anyone they want to embarrass.”

The preacher explained that before the rise of social media, false stories were often limited to small groups, but modern platforms now allow such claims to circulate rapidly and attract massive attention.

“In the past, before social media came in, you could only tell the lie to maybe one person or a small group,” he said. “But now people go on social media and tell very big lies.”

Referring to the Mirabel case, Kumuyi described how a young woman allegedly shared a detailed account online claiming she had been raped by a stranger who forced his way into her apartment while she was alone at home.

According to him, the emotional description of the alleged incident quickly drew public sympathy, with many people responding by offering support and financial assistance.

“She described the incident so vividly that people sympathized,” he said, noting that donations reportedly began to pour in shortly after the story gained attention online.

However, Kumuyi stated that the situation later took a dramatic turn when the claim was reportedly exposed as false by a close acquaintance, triggering legal consequences.

He said the case illustrates how fabricated stories can mislead the public and damage trust in genuine victims of abuse. “These are the kinds of situations we are ministering to today,” Kumuyi said.

The cleric urged believers and the wider public to exercise caution before reacting to viral stories online, emphasizing the need to verify claims before spreading them.

Kumuyi concluded by stressing that such incidents highlight the moral and social challenges of the present age and the importance of truth in public discourse.
