Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has reflected on the internal dynamics of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), particularly the role of the G5 governors, while addressing Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.
Fayose made the remarks during an interview on Channels Television, where he spoke on the aftermath of the G5 coalition and its impact on the party’s unity. The G5, a group of influential PDP governors, played a controversial role during the 2023 general elections, often taking positions that diverged from the party’s mainstream leadership.
In the interview, Fayose said, “Sir, May I say to you we are all members of G5. We all went through it but it all went wrong.” His statement appeared to acknowledge both his involvement and that of Makinde in the group, while expressing regret over how events unfolded. The comment suggests that the political strategy adopted by the G5 may not have yielded the intended outcomes for its members or the party.
