The Spanish top flight League is gradually coasting to the end as games are being played as scheduled. The Pichichi Award race hasn’t really generated enough attention based on goals gaps between contenders in the goal scoring department.
Kylian Mbappe wasn’t on the score sheet over the weekend but the Forward still sit on the driving seat as he approach another Pichichi Award glory this season. Mbappe has 23 goals and 4 assists in 23 games for Real Madrid so far in the League this season, leading 2nd placed Muriqi of Mallorca by 7 goals on the way to another individual and glorious Award. However, Mbappe couldn’t come to the rescue of Real Madrid in their 2-1 loss to Osasuna in a game where his goal was disallowed for offside. He remains in good form as he gets close to claiming his 2nd Pichichi Award in his second season at Real Madrid.
Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski of Barcelona are still struggling with scoring goals as against the belief of many this season. Lamine Yamal has 10 goals and 9 assists while Lewandowski has 10 goals with 1 assist in 20 games. Both players are trailing Mbappe by 13 whopping goals as they don’t really look like contenders to tussle the Pichichi Award with Mbappe.
As it stands, Mbappe is close to winning his 2nd Pichichi Award in Spain after his great contributions to Real Madrid’s hope of winning title this season.
