According to a report by Fichajes, on Monday March 02, 2026, Chelsea have submitted an opening bid of €70 million for Real Madrid winger Rodrygo.
The Brazilian international has been linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu for several months, with rumors suggesting he may leave Los Blancos this summer amid growing interest from other clubs.
While Arsenal and Liverpool have also been mentioned as potential destinations for Rodrygo, it is Chelsea that appears to be actively pursuing him.
The Blues recently completed a deal for Sporting CP’s Geovany Quenda, who is set to join in July, but they remain keen on strengthening their wing options following challenges with Alejandro Garnacho.
Since arriving at Chelsea, Garnacho has struggled to find consistency, scoring only once in 17 Premier League appearances.
He hasn’t played more than 60 minutes in a top-flight match since December 27 and was an unused substitute in recent games against Leeds United and Burnley.
Reports suggest Chelsea may consider selling Garnacho this summer, with potential replacements being discussed, including Kenan Yildiz, Morgan Rojas, Nico Williams, and now Rodrygo.
For his part, Rodrygo has contributed nine goals and assists in 26 appearances across all competitions this season.
Chelsea’s bid, reported by Spanish outlet Fichajes, involves an initial €60 million fee plus up to €10 million in bonuses.
The club has yet to receive a response from Real Madrid, who are expected to evaluate the offer over the coming weeks as they consider a possible sale.
Chelsea has reportedly assured Rodrygo of a key attacking role at Stamford Bridge and promised him significant playing time.
However, no personal negotiations have taken place, and it’s unlikely that an agreement will be reached before the end of the 2025-26 season.
