According to a report by Daily Independent, on Tuesday March 10, 2026, in the 2027 presidential election, a united ticket consisting of Goodluck Jonathan and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso might depose President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, according to Emma Umerah, a prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He claimed the ex-president could only serve a single term in office if re-elected, and that in that time Jonathan would be able to guide the nation’s social, economic, and political evolution in a new direction.
Umerah praised Jonathan as a steady, moral leader who upholds democratic principles, and she stated that Nigeria needs leadership at the moment to stabilise the system and encourage prosperity.
According to Umerah, he cited the 2015 presidential election as an example of how Jonathan’s acceptance of defeat and congratulations to Muhammadu Buhari contributed to the country’s ability to avoid a political catastrophe and retain calm.
Umerah emphasised Kwankwaso’s political clout, noting that the former governor of Kano State had a sizable fan base in northern Nigeria and might garner substantial support from that area.
This, he argued, would help to even out the ticket and give it a fighting chance against the ruling party.
He went on to say that Jonathan’s tenure as president from 2010 to 2015 was a success, citing the reforms and development initiatives that took place in Nigeria and the fact that, following the rebasing of the GDP in 2014, the country surpassed all others in terms of economic power in Africa.
“Only Jonathan and Kwankwaso ticket in 2027 Presidential Election would upstage the incumbent president, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” declared the president. See more
