Kayode Egbetokun, the former inspector general of police recently disclosed the reasons why some police officers were after him. According to his statements which were shared by VANGUARD, he pointed out that he uncovered malpractices within the system which led to the dismissal of several police officers.

Many were left stunned after reports of the persecution of the former inspector general of police, Kayode Egbetokun went viral across various social media platforms.

The former police chief, it can be recalled, had tendered his resignation letter few months to his due date, an act which triggered curiosity amongst the populace.

However, according to a recent statement which was made available to the general public by VANGUARD, the former police chief disclosed the reasons why he was being persecuted.

According to his statements, he pointed out that several unacceptable practices were uncovered within the system which he not only stopped, but held the perpetrators accountable.

Their identities, according to Kayode Egbetokun, were forwarded to the Police Service Commission, PSC who dutifully dismissed the culprits from the police force.

Aggrieved by his actions, according to the retired inspector general, the dismissed officers took to different means to seek his downfall.

“I didn’t just stop the practice. We fished out the culprits and forwarded their names to the Police Service Commission, PSC, for proper disciplinary action, and they were all removed from the system.” He said.

The statements from the former inspector general of police however, generated mixed reactions as many believed proper investigation should be carried out to ascertain the truth.
