Addressing the Labour Party’s response to the verdict, Clarke did not mince words. “I don’t know where he got his jurisprudence from,” he quipped, evidently referring to the party’s dissent. He went on to emphasize the significance of these judgements being aired live, “It is a good thing that these two judgements are being broadcast live so that you and I, and those that are not knowledgeable in the law, will understand what is at stake in the country. Despite whatever the Labour Party might say, these judgements have greatly enriched the jurisprudence of this country.”
