When Charles Aniagolu questioned Senator Athan Achonu about the extent of Peter Obi’s influence on him, Achonu responded that Peter Obi has helped him to authenticate what he is saying in his campaign for governor of Imo state because people have to believe him first and since he previously stated that not many people know him. This was during an interview with Arise News during the Newsnight programme.
Senator Athnan Achonu responded they knew him though but because of what Peter Obi represented, that’s why he followed him.
“I left Politics, it’s because Peter Obi happened (somebody that I think we think alike), that’s why I joined Labour Party and followed Peter Obi. Peter Obi is the only and one of the smartest human beings that I ever met. And his discipline is unbelievable, that’s why I joined Labour Party. I want to work with a man like that. ”
