Despite being regarded as intelligent by many who met me, the consistent question was, ‘Why aren’t you in school?’ My response remained constant: ‘I lack the funds for further education.’ Saving from my salary was barely enough for survival, and my boyfriend, Kweku, being unemployed, couldn’t offer assistance.
Then, an unexpected figure entered my life—a pastor whom I met at the hotel where I worked. A regular customer from a church nearby, he took an interest in my life. Despite having a boyfriend, I made it clear to him.
Yet, in one of our conversations, he echoed the familiar query about my absence from school. That day, we delved into my financial struggles for education, to which he responded fervently, ‘I will help you. I’ll do everything to support your return to school.
