This was disclosed by former Nigerian player, Peter Rufai, who said the goalkeeping issue has been a crisis for the national team.

Nwabali was praised by Nigerians home and abroad for his contribution to the progress of the Super Eagles at the Ivory Coast sporting event.

“In the commencement of the AFCON, the first match against Equatorial Guinea, that was my first time seeing Stanley Nwabali.

“Immediately I assessed his performance, his movement, communication, composure and I immediately said to myself Nigeria has been able to solve this problem, the yearning of Nigeria getting a better goalkeeper for the Super Eagles,” Rufia said.

He further stated that “Nwabali in that first match [against Equatorial Guinea] satisfied me and I was happy with what I saw, Nigerians were happy with what they saw as well but it didn’t just end there.”

The Super Eagles goalkeeper and a shining star at Chippa United expressed sheer delight at realising his dream of meeting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Reflecting on his encounter at the State House on Tuesday, Nwabali shared his jubilation, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to meet the Nigerian leader.

“It’s so nice; it’s been my dream to meet the President, and today, it’s so nice, I won’t even talk about my reaction because, merely looking at my face, you’ll see that I’m so happy,” remarked Nwabali.

He continued, “Even my teammates are so happy because of the way Mr. President said we reached our best, but it was up to him to show this kind of appreciation to us. But I appreciate him so much; to be honest, they tried for us.”CONTINUE READING
