The young monarch was formerly crowned on Sunday, February 25, 2024, after seven days of traditional seclusion for the throne-ascension rites called Ipebi.
The monarch ascended the throne 111 years, after the passing of his progenitor, Olofin Asade Awope Otenibotemole I, who ruled Ado-Odo from 1879 to 1913.
Having adopted the title of Otenibotemole II, (The king who buries mischief under spread mats) and completed the seclusion rites, the new Olofin successfully ascended the vacant throne of one of the ancient settlements of the Aworis.
The ceremony, which took place at the palace was attended by dignitaries, traditional leaders, and well-wishers from across the kingdom and beyond.
While expressing his gratitude, the young monarch thanked the people of the town and visitors who graced his coronation for their unwavering support, saying their steadfast encouragement and solidarity have been instrumental in ensuring the success of the occasion.
