Lawan said this when he paid a courtesy visit to the Akran of Badagry, Aholu Menu Toyi 1, in his palace, in Badagry.
According to him, the military is nonpartisan and apolitical and will do everything possible to protect the territorial integrity of the country from external aggression.
He said: “I am here at the Akran’s palace to show respect to the foremost traditional ruler. I believe that my first assignment in Badagry is to come here and receive your royal blessings.
“Security of lives and property of the people of Badagry is my responsibility and I will ensure this. I believe that it is only with peace and unity that development can be achieved in all spheres of life in the country.”
