The NCC had initially planned to deactivate 12 million lines. The NCC Director of Public Affairs, Reuben Mouka, warned against an extension of the deadline, stating that non-compliant telcos would face sanctions.

To avoid disconnection, individuals can follow these steps to link their mobile numbers to NIN using the NIMC Personal Identity digital application:

1. Download the NIMC Personal Identity application from Google Store or Apple Store.
2. Use the application to link up to 28 mobile numbers to your NIN.
3. Input your 11-digit NIN on the NIMC Personal Identity page.
4. If you don’t know your NIN, retrieve it by dialing *346# or provide personal information in the app.
5. Confirm your linked number or choose to use another number.
6. Provide the new number and receive an SMS with a token to proceed.
7. If no OTP is received, dial *364*2*NIN#.
8. Receive an SMS with your UserID and OTP.
9. Input the OTP to access your identity platform displaying your UserID and NIN info.
10. Click on the icon to link your numbers, add them, and input the OTP sent to complete the linkage process.<<<READ FULL ARTICLE>>>
