As the CEO of Gym Positivity, Joey Swoll is regularly pushing to remove ‘toxic gym culture’ by working directly with fitness centers to implement stricter guidelines to create a better environment while training.
While Joey Swoll wishes it wasn’t necessary, he has effectively become the ‘gym police’ having to call out individuals for unacceptable behavior in public fitness centers. Whether it is hogging machines or harassing other gym-goers, no one is immune to Swoll’s wrath. In a recent Instagram post, Joey Swoll addresses a young woman for creating inappropriate content while at the gym.
“Please stop filming this type of content at the gym.”
“Listen, I’m all for gym humor and comedy but there is absolutely a line, especially when you’re at a busy commercial gym like this Crunch, where a lot of young people, a lot minors workout. They should not be exposed to this, be around it, or even worse in the background of one of these videos.”
Joey Swoll expresses why this is so unacceptable and how he would handle the situation if that were his gym.
“Imagine you are a mother or father, you sign your son or daughter up at this gym, they’re a minor, and then you find out that this is the type of content that is being created at this gym or god forbid your son or daughter is in the background of one of these videos. I would be absolutely livid” Joey Swoll explained.
“If this is my gym I would ask you one time politely to stop doing this but seeing as this is a theme on your page, video after video, I would ask you to leave and not come back. You need to do better. Mind your own business.”
As of late, Joey Swoll has been inundated with awkward and sometimes downright morally unacceptable gym encounters. Recently, he made an example out of two ladies who illegally recorded another woman while enjoying spa amenities. In the end, Swoll revealed that both ladies have been banned from the gym and a police investigation is underway.
Having dealt with other women who have sexualized workouts at the gym, Swoll is no stranger to this growing problem. He hopes in time gym-goers from all walks of life can learn to exercise and mind their business while creating content.
