I am not writing this story for any gain or financial advice or help or support but for all men to learn a thing or two from my story as a committed husband and father.

I remember a particular week I had to go do labour (bricklayer labour) to get this family going. It is unfair on me and now being homeless is a shame. When you see red flags in any kind of relationship don’t ignore it please.

This lady in question already has a child out of wed lock which I know and accepted as my own at the age of 6-7. I did everything she want and wedded with her from Court Registry, reception and then traditional.

I take full responsibility and accepted I am the doer of myself in this whole story. Three months into the marriage in 2016, I got sacked from my job as a Presales Support Engineer in Ajah. My first of many troubles and tribulations to come but I ignored it.

Her pastor congratulated me on the same day too but I still didn’t see far enough. Started a photography business with the little I have and I was instructed on how to set up the new business, her pastor supported me with prayers.

And that didn’t work either because in less than two years I didn’t have more than 4 customers. Studio closed down with lack of money to continue the rent and we sold the equipment one after the other for crisis and keep the family together.

At a point she was the only one we rely on to put the family together financially. So I decided we need to go back to our drawing board, re-strategise going forward but the same pastor pushed her to start a supermarket with her savings.
And also ask her to resign from work our family was surviving on at the time. By the time we had the child. We were at our lowest and I had to brace up because I’m the head of the family, alot of people will suffer including her child she had out of wedlock.

If I don’t bring anything to the table, two years down the line, the crisis started when the boy was diagnosed to be SS. Let me not bore you with my sad story, at some point things got from bad to worse because we were spending more than what was coming in financially,
I have loaned from everyone close to me that most of my family and friends was starting to see me as a burden, the shame all that brings was unbearable for me and I thought maybe if we relocate to somewhere very far, thing might get better for us in the process

so we decided to moved to Ibadan because we could not pay rent, food and other expenses, every penny I was making was disappearing with crisis. At some point I had to take lapo, Ajo, etc from one debt to the other. I took a hired purchase car too in the midst of all this chaos but still I have nothing to show for it and eventually the car was stolen and recovered totally damaged.

Sold the car scraps and pay for the debt she created, she turned my whole life upside down and to top it all, she made me raised two kids that wasn’t mine for 8 years of my life, leaving me with so much debts, sadness and anger, today I had nothing to show for all the hard work I have done during the past years and I have to rely on family and friends for my daily meal.
