Kanu, who spoke on Tuesday after he was denied bail by Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court Abuja, was quoted as saying: “I suspect that some people in government are complicit. They are making money with this insecurity. They know if Nnamdi Kanu is outside, in two minutes, this nonsense will stop.”
In a swift reaction, Ekpa took to his official X handle to threaten the Nigerian authorities with a video of Nnamdi Kanu in court.

He said: “Release my father or you see the beast in me.”
Meanwhile, Kanu had said anybody who is committing crime in the name of IPOB is a criminal and should be dealt with.
The IPOB leader added: “I have sacrificed my parents for th is struggle why would I want to sacrifice any other person. Anybody commiting crimes in the South- East is not part of this family.
“I suspect that some people in government are complicit. They are making money with this insecurity. They know if Nnamdi Kanu is outside, in two minutes, this nonsense will stop.
“Anybody involved in any form of violence in the South- East in the name of IPOB, let me come out of this nonsense, this mess, only two minutes, I guarantee you, and there will be peace in the South- East.”

Earlier, the IPOB leader, who has been in the custody of the DSS since his extradition in June 2021, and is facing charges bordering on treasonable felony, told the court that he is being treated poorly by the secret police, and that there is a conspiracy for him to die in the custody.
The Federal High Court dismissed the fresh application he filed to be released on bail, pending the determination of the treasonable felony charge the Federal Government preferred against him.
