She admitted to defaming Badmus after being promised N200,000 by a friend, Fortune Ibe, to do so. Despite her remorse, Justice Oweibo offered her the choice to pay a fine of N150,000 instead of serving jail time, noting that her actions violated Sections 24(1)(b)(2)(a)(c) and 27 of the Cybercrimes Act, 2015. Okoye and another individual, Chimabia, who is currently at large, were jointly charged for the offence.
