BREAKING: 8 Ugandan musicians arrested for saying the President’s speech ‘was too long’

The incident occurred at the 50th wedding anniversary celebrations of former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi and his wife Jacqueline Mbabazi.

According to report, the band members, speaking in the local Runyankole language, are said to have uttered remarks that loosely translated to over speaker, we are tired, leave the microphone.

This complaint was perceived as disrespectful towards the president and led to their arrest.

Meanwhile, the musicians are currently being held at Kampala Central Police Station and have been charged with insulting the president.

This incident comes on the heels of President Museveni attracting attention for appointing family members to significant government roles.

His daughter, Natasha Museveni, was appointed as the Governor of the Central Bank of Uganda, following his earlier appointment of his son, Lieutenant-General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, as head of the country’s defense forces.

These appointments have raised questions about succession plans within Uganda’s ruling National Resistance Movement party.
