Arodiogbu had gone to Onu’s residential home in the company of the present Minister for Science and Technology Uche Nnaji and the State Chairman of APC in Enugu State, Ugo Agballah.
Arodiogbu, who met with the late statesman’s wife, siblings and children, regretted Onu’s demise but urged the family to bear such a loss with equanimity.
In a statement put out by his office, Arodiogbu stated, “I received the news of the passing of the former Governor of Abia State and two time Minister for Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu with immense sadness”.
“Onu as we know was a principled politician and a statesman of repute, who contributed immensely to the political development of the Nigerian nation. His strides and acheivments as Governor of Abia State as well as a minister cannot be wished away. A dexterous politician we cannot forget his imprints in the APP Presidential Primaries of 1999, where he emerged victorious but was magnanimous in allowing the APP-AD alliance, which cost him the ticket.”
