The coordinator of Egba Heritage Defense Council, EHDC, Comrade Abayomi Arabambi has described the linking of ancestral lineage of the gubernatorial candidate of People’s Democratic Party, PDP in the 2023 Election in Ogun state, Hon. According to the press conference today read by Dr Arabambi, he said, “I am amazed to have heard a rumor going round that Hon Oladipupo Adebutu, the Governorship candidate of PDP in the last election claimed in one of his outings that he is from Egbaland division of the State.”
“In as much as I am not ready to react to his claim because every residents of the State knows areas he has claimed since he started his political journey 25 years ago. This is a man that claimed that he is from Odogbolu area of the State, saying that his maternal home is Odogbolu, a zone he contested from in 2023 Governorship election.”
The Council vehemently opposed the infantile claims saying they are not only frivolous and vexatious but arrantly irritating, and lacking in substance.
“The fact remains that by our law and tradition, you can only claimed to be an Egba Son or Daughter provided your mother or father is from Egba Land.”
“Anything short of this is absolute nonsense and rascality of the highest order
For his national assembly election, he contested from Remo division of the State which happens to be his paternal home.
What then baffles some of us is the claim that he came from Egba in Itesi area of Odeda local government.”
“The question some of us should ask Adebutu is where is the familys house, and he should try and give us the genealogy of his tribe in Egbaland.”
“Also as a true born Egba man, why is it that it’s Adebutu that is claiming his background while his father is still alive. Baba Adebutu should have been the one telling us his history.”
” I could remember the last time Baba Adebutu visited Abeokuta, when he was conferred with an honorary membership of Abeokuta club, he said and I quote him’ I am now an Egba man because my daughter once married Baba Obasanjo son, and I am happy that I am the only Remo man to be conferred with this membership’. If Baba Adebutu had any history apart from marriage with Egba, he would have said it that day.” Said Arabambi.
Also, he said, ” Let me remind Adebutu that Egba is not like any other tribe in Yorubaland, we have a clear cut history, he should read history book and be highly educated.”
“The story of one Alimi and other cock and bull story because of politics which has eluded him is a story he should live to the gods.”
“So who are his cousins, niece’s, Uncle’s and Sisters of the said paternal Great Grand father and Grandfather from Odeda?”
Arabambi said Egba Heritage Defense Council, EHDC viewed the despicable and desperate act by Hon LADI Adebutu as one of his desperate and in- ordinate ambitions to ambush the Egba people preparatory to Conquer Egba Alake Traditional council and Annexed it to REMO COUNCIL TRADITIONAL INSTITUTION via his expansionist agenda.
The council therefore pleaded with Gov DAPO ABIODUN to deal with any Oba or Baale who choose to dared the authorities of our paramount ruler, the Alake Of Egba Land .
The council assured the people of Egba Land that we will keep an eagle eyes on any unscrupulous individuals or group that want to bring our Egba heritage into disrepute.READ FULL ARTICLE>>>>
