‘It happens more than we think,’ 64-year-old cries after stranger says she’s lost home forever – she had to padlock door

Asantewaa Nkrumah-Ture, of Philadelphia, said her nerves were shot and even had to install a padlock on her door.

In February 2022, Nkrumah-Ture, 64, was given a notice that warned she had 30 days to leave the property, as the radio station WHYY-FM reported.

She urged city chiefs to crack down on illegal evictions.

“They happen a lot more often than we think,” she said.

The eviction came out of the blue as she had lived in her home since the summe of 2019.

It emerged her landlord Alvan Morrison was going to move into the property.

Just days after receiving the warning, Morrison reportedly turned up at the front door and urged her to move out.

She claimed Kareem Terry, who said he’s the landlord’s brother, threw furniture around the place, per Axios.

Nkrumah-Ture said she put a padlock on her door because of safety concerns.

“I was in fear for my safety because it seemed like they were trying to do an illegal eviction,” she told a court.

She revealed her pals had slept over at the property as a way of helping her stay safe.

Nkrumah-Ture said she had wedged a couch against her door to stop people from storming in.

She said she took time off work so she could protect her belongings, per The Philadelphia Inquirer.

She shared pictures with Axios

that showed her sporting abulletproof vest.

Nkrumah-Ture claimed Morrison and Terry told her they would open fire inside the property.

She also alleged Terry hurled insults at her and her friends.

A judge gave an order that allowed her to move out of the property within a 30-day window.

She has since moved out of the property.

But Nkrumah-Ture revealed the saga has had a lasting impact.

“I’ll probably have to see a therapist when this is finally over,” she told WHYY in 2022.

Meanwhile, Terry has been sentenced to six to 12 months behind bars, per the outlet.

He was found guilty on a slew of charges including terroristic threats and false imprisonment.

Terry has been ordered to complete 300 hours of community service after he’s released.

Nkrumah-Ture has since filed a lawsuit against Morrison. He vehemently denies any wrongdoing.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>
