Heart-stopping CCTV captures hero barbers bolting from shop seconds before toddler runs into traffic

The two barbers, who bolted from their shop to prevent a young girl from getting hit by a car, claim they are just fortunate fathers who just happened to be at the right place at the right time.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>

Osvaldo Lugo, the owner of Look Sharp Barbershop, and Rafael Santana, one of his employees, are shown on surveillance footage running out of the business after a young girl who went down the street by herself. The footage was uploaded to Lugo’s Instagram account. Santana claimed to have noticed a tiny pink reflection whizzing by the glass while he was cutting hair at the barbershop in East Hartford.

“I said, ‘Yo, there’s a little girl by herself,’” he says. “At the shop, we joke around all day to make the hours go by so I’m glad (my co-workers) believed me.”

Four-time parent Santana, who is expecting his first child, says he is alert at all times, especially in public. “I have to focus on my children.” Running out the door, Santana and Lugo pursued the girl as she made her way toward a busy crossroads. Lugo caught up with her at the crosswalk, as shown in the footage posted on Instagram.

Father of three Lugo claimed he was constantly telling himself, “You better get her on time,” as he was sprinting. “[As the shop and building owner], I have a responsibility to this corner of the street,” he says. “When I grabbed her, she was yelling for her mom. I looked around and saw her mother at a bus stop around the corner.”

Lugo returned the young child to her mother, who appeared appreciative but also perplexed, according to Lugo. The men went back to the barbershop and waited for their clients.

Hero certificates were given to Santana and Lugo by East Hartford Mayor Connor Martin. And they received public praise from the local police agency.

Santana describes Lugo and himself as just fathers with good timing “Heroic Barbers to the Rescue! Today, we want to give a massive shoutout to the quick-thinking and brave duo, Osvaldo Lugo and Rafael Santana of LookSharp Barbershop,” read a police department Facebook post

. “Their swift action saved a little toddler who had escaped from his mother and started moving towards traffic on Main Street. Thanks to them, a potential tragedy was averted, and a family remains whole. We’re incredibly grateful for these everyday heroes among us!”
