According to report by the Punch on Sunday, May 10, 2026, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has once again emerged as the party’s flagbearer for the 2027 presidential election following a consensus arrangement at the party’s national convention held in Bauchi State.

Adebayo’s endorsement came after party leaders and delegates unanimously adopted his candidacy during the convention, which also produced Prof Sadiq Gombe as the new National Chairman of the party. The gathering was part of the SDP’s broader preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
