According to a report by Daily Post on 16 May 2026, an aspirant for the Borno Central Federal Constituency, Abdulsalam Mustapha Kachalla, rejected the ongoing consensus arrangement for the primary elections in the state. Kachalla insisted on direct primaries to allow registered party members to freely choose their preferred candidate for the 2027 general elections.
