BREAKING NEWS: Oyo Abduction Was Carried Out By Members of JAS Who Escaped Sustained Military Operations- DHQ

According to a report by Punch on Friday, May 22, 2026, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has stated that the recent abduction in Oyo State was allegedly executed by elements of Jama’at Ahl al-Sunna li-Da’wah wa’l-Jihad (JAS) who reportedly fled ongoing military pressure in Nigeria’s Northeast region.

The military explained that intelligence assessments suggest the attackers are remnants of insurgent groups displaced from Borno and Yobe states following sustained offensives under Operation Hadin Kai.
