The World Bank has approved $50 million to support Nigeria’s food and nutrition challenges, specifically under the Accelerating Nutrition Results in Nigeria (ANRiN) project 2.0 program, which is a crisis response window. This significant funding aims to address the country’s growing nutrition challenges, particularly in the wake of recent floods and global inflationary pressures affecting food security.

During a meeting with Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, World Bank Country Director Ndiame Diop emphasized the importance of nutrition education for children and adolescents, highlighting its impact on early child development. Practice Manager for Health, Nutrition and Population at the World Bank, Trina Haque, also stressed the need for nutrition education to ensure healthy growth and development.

Vice President Shettima presented the comprehensive N-774 Initiative, building on successful outcomes from the ANRiN project. This community-driven strategy aims to transform nutrition outcomes across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas (LGAs). The initiative is tailored to meet the unique needs of each LGA, promoting local ownership and sustainability.
