BREAKING: City Boy Movement hails Abiodun for endorsing Yayi

The Ogun West Senatorial District chapter of the City Boy Movement has commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for what it described as historic leadership in resolving the succession question in Ogun State.

It also pledged total support for Senator Solomon Adeola ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The group’s coordinator, Ayodeji Idowu, made this known in a statement on Monday after Abiodun publicly endorsed Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, as the All Progressives Congress consensus choice for the party’s 2027 governorship ticket.

The endorsement came during a strategic APC caucus meeting of party leaders and stakeholders, where discussions centred on succession plans and preparations ahead of the next election cycle.

In a video clip from the meeting, Abiodun addressed party members and said the party had already reached a decision on its preferred candidate.

In the statement, Idowu said Abiodun’s decision had broken a long-standing succession jinx in the state, describing it as a demonstration of political maturity and commitment to stability.

“Your Excellency’s visionary leadership, political maturity, and commitment to the stability and progress of Ogun State have once again been demonstrated through this bold and strategic decision,” the statement read.

“By choosing a worthy, people-oriented, and ready-made successor in Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, you have laid a solid foundation for continuity, good governance, and sustainable development in the state,” it added.

The group also congratulated Adeola on his emergence as the consensus candidate, citing his record on infrastructure delivery and grassroots engagement as evidence of his readiness for the governorship.

“His outstanding contributions to infrastructure development, coupled with his track record of delivering impactful, people-centered projects, clearly distinguish him as a leader prepared for the task ahead,” the statement read.

The City Boy Movement said it would mobilise its structures across the senatorial district to secure victory for the APC at the polls.

“We are fully committed to mobilising our structures and grassroots network to ensure a resounding victory at the polls,” Idowu said.

Adeola currently represents Ogun West in the Senate.
