Senator Ali Ndume has reacted after Boko Haram demanded a 5 billion naira ransom for the release of the large number of people kidnapped from Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area, Borno State
In a video shared by Arise TV, Ndume said he personally knows some of the people kidnapped. He said the actual number of people that were kidnapped is about 547 and when he first heard the report he did not believe it initially, but later confirmed that it was true.
Ndume said the victims were not transported in vehicles but were forced to move on foot in large numbers.
In Ndume’s words: “At the beginning I didn’t believe that they have abducted 547 people. Those abducted were 547 or thereabout. It was unbelievable but it is true. It is not like these people were loaded into a vehicle or taken but the captives were herded, just like cattle. Two or three persons can control cattle and herd it towards the direction they want”
