There is currently a heavy presence of operatives of the Nigerian Police Force at Magodo Estate in Lagos State, which houses the offices of prominent legal figure, Afe Babalola.

Naija News reports that this action comes in anticipation of protests by Nigerians advocating for the release of human rights attorney, Dele Farotimi.

It could be recalled that Farotimi was taken into custody by the Nigerian Police at the request of Afe Babalola and subsequently transported from Lagos to Ekiti State on charges related to defamation.

The planned protest, which has attracted significant public interest, is backed by former Presidential aspirant, Omoyele Sowore.

Sowore has previously indicated that demonstrations will take place in various locations on Tuesday, including Lagos, Ekiti, Abuja, and London, United Kingdom.

The protests aim to secure the immediate release of Farotimi, who remains in detention following a substantial bail of ₦50 million imposed by the Federal High Court in Ado-Ekiti.

Reports indicate that a significant presence of armed police personnel has been deployed at Afe Babalola’s law firm in Lagos in response to the #FreeDeleFarotimiNow movement.

Naija News reported earlier that the Federal High Court in Ado-Ekiti granted bail to Dele Farotimi in the amount of ₦50 million after the police brought charges against him concerning allegations of cybercrime.

However, Farotimi, arrived at the premise of the Ado Ekiti Magistrate Court on Tuesday morning ahead of the hearing of a defamation charge filed against him by Afe Babalola.
