A chieftain of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Victor Umeh, has said that much of the opposition directed at former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, stems from his refusal to participate in transactional politics, particularly practices involving financial inducements for political support.

According to a report by Daily Post on Friday, May 22, 2026, Umeh made the remarks during a programme aired on Trust TV on Thursday, where he reflected on political behaviour in Nigeria and the perception surrounding Peter Obi’s style of leadership and engagement.
